Orrin's birthday in Cottonwood

So we were able to celebrate Orrin's birthday on Saturday. Matt went and bought this small cake for Orrin. It was the cutest cake for the little guy. He liked to put his fingers into cake and lick his fingers. Dad then taught him the ropes and put Orrin's hand in to the cake and his liked it for a little while. Our little guy is walking now. He takes his time but he likes to walk now. Yea!!! He was getting a little heavy to carry around all the time. We opened up presents, they were all wonderful. It was fun to be around the Welly family for the occassion. Thank you to Debbie and Chuck for being wonderful grandparents to our kids.

The birthday weekend.

Mother's Day weekend was a busy one. We had two birthday parties and Mother's Day to celebrate. Grandma Burris's birthday was the day before Mother's Day and Debbie wanted to have a party for her. We were glad to be there. She is such a nice Grandma to our family. The Brimhall famile and Burris family were able to come as well. It was nice to see Aaron, Jayme and their family there. We hadn't seen their family for a couple of weeks since their move to Safford, AZ. It was nice to be around Sarah and her kids. Nate, Niki and their boys are always fun to be around with. There was a present there that was given to Grandma that was so precious from Emily. She took Grandma's wedding pictures and made a scrapebook for her. How nice was that. It looked so awesome. Emily can help me out with ideas any time. She is very talented like her mom. We hope Grandma Burris had a great birthday. We love her.

Look who turned 1

We celebrated Orrin's birthday on the Newitt's side the first Sunday in May. Iy was cute to see Orrin try to open up presents. Of course Megan and Austin wanted to help show him how to rip the paper. Tate, Kaydee, and Donovan were very good and watched Orrin try to open. It is always interesting to see what a one year old will do when blowing out their first candle. Orrin thought it was neat enough to touch. Of course he found out that it hurts to touch it with his finger the hard way. Matt hurried blew the candle out. Thank you to all the Newitt family for being there. It is always fun to see everyone.

Watching Toy Story

Our kids have been watching movies up in the loft for the past few weeks. Toy Story is the favorite movie for the past week. We recently got some new ones. Matt and I have loved that little time to ourselves. Does any other family do this?

The morning with Amy

On Saturday the kids and I went up to spend some time with Amy (Kyle's fiance). We went to the Paradise Valley Mall to do some birthday shopping. I was thinking it would be okay to take the kids to a couple of shops and then let them play. After shopping a little it got to be lunch time and Austin and Megan wanted to go on the Carousel. I thought it would be fun and Amy was great to stay with Orrin. So as Megan drew closer to the plasitic animals she freaked out. She would not get on any animal whether it moved or not. That really surprised me that she acted that way. Austin wanted to get on one that went up and down. They switched their personalities on me when I didn't expect it. Megan and I ventured to the princess carriage and she had so still. She liked turning around and waving hi to Amy and Orrin. After the ride was done She carefully got out of the carriage and said, "Wow, mommy!" I asked her if she wanted go again and she said, "NO WAY!!" The last store we hit was JCPennys, there was a great sale going on and boy I wanted to check out clothes for the kids. In the center of the walk way by the kids section was a hop scotch, that entertained Megan and Austin for a while. I took my chance and checked out the boys clothes. Right after picking out my selection I turned around and what do you think happened? Yes they split on me. Orrin wanted out of the stroller and I started finding Megan's shoes. When catching up to her she said laughing, "You caught me mommy, now let me go." I took her to purchasing yelled for Austin and left the store. I got a work out just from running to find Megan. Thank you Amy for spending some time with us! We had fun.

Austin's field day

On Thursday Santa Rosa had their field day and Austin's group got to wear a light blue color. I brought Megan and Orrin with me in the double stroller trying to keep them occupied. Austin's class had many activities to participate in. Some of the activities were tug of war, taking off your shoes and racing to back to your shoes and putting them on, balancing a tiny ball on a spoon, bean bag jump, and last tossing a frizzbee through a whole. There were tons of kids out there but I think they al had fun. Megan kept on saying, "Go Austie, GO!" She clapped when he did a good job. Orrin even clapped ever so often. Great Job Austin, you made us proud.

Orrin's Ribs

We went to Lucilles for Chucks birthday on Tuesday and had a great feast. As we were going trhu the courses Orrin picked up a pork rib and stuffing himself with it. I thought okay he likes the taste of this meat. I cut some off the rib and placed the pieces in front of him. He ignored it and went right back to the bone. He went to town with this rib. We thought it was funny so I put another rib in his other hand and he loved that. He went from one to the other. We hope that Chuck had a great birthday. Thanks to Jayme for taking these pictures.

The sand box complete

Well on Friday afternoon the sand for our sandbox came and at first Matt and I thought that we didn't get enough for the job. But little by little Matt and Austin packed the wheel barrow and the little turned out to be a lot more. I think we have more than we need. Austin was a big helper for dad. He likes to help him out in the yard. Orrin came crawling out to the sand box and I put him in and the little man loved it. He sat outside for over an hour. I think he got a little hungry so some headed to his mouth. We hope to see many sand castles in years to come.

A colorful Megan

I was getting some chores taken care of when I heard nothing upstairs. That scared me and I went upstairs to see my little Megan drawing all over herself. Of course I start freaking out because we had to get to an outing whenin the hour. She thought she looked beautiful and with giggles and smailes she one by one put the markers away. I hope the marking come off her clothes as well. Sorry the pictures are side ways. Just tilt your head a little.

Are you a Procrastinator

My sister in law Niki tagged me with this question. I really didn't understand what "tagged" meant until now ofr some reason. The blondness is really coming out now. Am I a procrastinator? With some things I am. With birthday, anniversaries, holidays I am not one. I like to know what is going on so I am ready for it. In terms of dinner, yes. I think that is the last thingI want to do at the end of my day.

My two little kids

Every once in a while I can get these 2 to sleep at the same time. On Thursday was one of those days that when they woke up they were smiling and happy. Hurray!!!

Here are all the boys

Outside in the back Austin, Orrin, and dad swinging on the swing set. Austin's new thing is going to to ends on the swing set and getting on the bar and flipping around. He just can't get enough of doing that. Orrin likes to get on any swing for long periods of time especially if he get a popsicle. Orrin loves to try to get on the big swing and misses ever time to stand against it.

Megan and ABC

Megan is a smart girl. She really likes letters. She started learning her letters from the Leap Frog. There are refrigerator magnets that you put in this box and it tell you what the letter is. She did that so much that it started clicking and she know her ABCs. I bought a ABC puzzle that she likes to do. She can put them all back where they belong. She knows the colors of each one. So yeah fun. She is sweet especially when she helps out Austin on the letters. He get a little confused with some of them.

We recently just bought the three letter words that Leap Frog has and when I went shopping with the kids on Tuesday at Walmart. We went by the product and Megan picked it up and started playing with the letters. She pushed the C and A and T. It tells you what the word is and then Megan said "cat" I thought wow. I put it back because I didn't want to get it the magnets yet and she didn't like that idea. She kept on saying, "I want my cat, I want my cat!!!!" I went to the register to purchase the rest of the items and she wanted out of the cart. First mistake was getting her out of the cart. I did anyway and she threw a fit and layed on the dirty nasty floor. When I was finished I asked her if she wanted to get chicken and go see daddy. She instantly stopped jumped up and said, "see daddy and eat nummies!!" "Yes." Everyone that was standing around her to see if she was hurting were surprised and stumped that she changed her attiutde so easily. She did get her "cat" and it is on the refrigerator and loves it.

The Sandbox and Garden box

Megan received a fun turtle sandbox for her birthday but we realized that most likely it wouldn't fit them for so long Mat and I decided to make a big sandbox. We liked the idea so much that we borrowed Steve's truck (thanks for the use of the truck) to buy the lumber. On Friday Matt's day off he made the sand box. Now all we need is the sand. There is dirt in there for now. He also made me a garden box. It is quite big so hopefully we can grow some veggies!!! Sorry no pictures of the garden box. I will show you it when somethings grows. He worked so hard on those things.

Las Vegas Wedding!!!!

Matt and I had a wonderful opportunity of going to Las Vegas for a wedding. A highlight of the trip was the children were with my parents so we didn't change a diaper all weekend. That was a treat in itself (I have 2 in diapers). We had a lot of fun driving with Nate and Niki to and from Las Vegas. Niki and I got to really catch up with what was going on in each others lives. Matt and I had the priviledge of staying with Chris and Jackie for the weekend and we had so much fun. I got to be as helpful as I wanted. Brooke and I got to spend some time with her hair and nails. The wedding was sunny, windy and very beautiful. We had fun spending time with each other.

Later that night we caught up with Brad Balentine, old softball buddie that the boys played with for years. Brad is the GM of Lambardis, a restraunt in the Planet Hollywood casino. He gave us a fabulous spread of food that we were stuffed. He also hooked us up with some VIP tickets to comedy club. Matt was the lucky one to be picked to participate with one of the acts. He ended up wearing a mask of a women with gray long hair. It was great fun to see him up there. Thanks Brad! We had so much fun in Vegas and can't wait to get back. Thanks to Nate and Niki for driving and my parents for watching our kids.
